If your TV is a 2019 or newer Samsung, LG, Sony, or Hisense, you don’t need a Fire TV Stick or Android box to run IPTV. The native app stores on Tizen (Samsung), webOS (LG), and Google TV (Sony, Hisense) carry direct IPTV apps. This guide covers all three OS families.
Samsung Smart TV (Tizen OS)
Which Samsung TVs work
- 2019 and newer — Tizen 5.0+ supports all major IPTV apps
- 2016-2018 — Limited app support; may need to sideload
- Pre-2016 — Not recommended, upgrade to Fire TV Stick
Best IPTV app for Samsung: Smart IPTV
- Press Home on your Samsung remote.
- Go to Apps → Search → type “Smart IPTV”.
- Install the app.
- Open it. You’ll see a MAC address on screen. Write it down.
- On your computer, go to siptv.eu (Smart IPTV’s site).
- Register your MAC address. Upload your M3U playlist or enter Xtream Codes.
- Return to your TV. Restart the app. Channels load.
Smart IPTV costs a one-time €5.49 fee after a 7-day trial. Worth it — the interface is fast and the EPG works well.
Alternative: SS IPTV
Free alternative. Install from Samsung app store, generate connection code, enter playlist URL on ss-iptv.com. Interface is more dated than Smart IPTV.
LG Smart TV (webOS)
Which LG TVs work
- 2019 and newer — webOS 4.5+ works with all major IPTV apps
- 2016-2018 — Some app support, may need sideloading
Best IPTV app for LG: Smart IPTV (same as Samsung)
- LG Content Store → search “Smart IPTV” → Install.
- Open app. Note the MAC address shown.
- On your computer at siptv.eu, register the MAC and upload your playlist.
- Restart the TV app. Channels load.
Alternative: SS IPTV or GSE Smart IPTV
Both available in LG’s app store. Same style of setup.
Sony / Hisense Smart TV (Google TV OS)
Sony and newer Hisense TVs run Google TV — essentially Android TV in a TV. Setup is identical to my Android TV box guide.
Recommended app: TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro from Google Play Store directly on the TV.
General Smart TV Setup Tips
Use Ethernet if possible
Most modern smart TVs have Ethernet ports. Wired is more reliable than Wi-Fi for 4K IPTV. If Wi-Fi is your only option, use 5 GHz.
Match TV refresh rate
In your TV settings, enable “Match Content Frame Rate” for smoother playback of sports content.
Update TV firmware
Older firmware sometimes has streaming bugs. Check for TV updates monthly.
Disable motion smoothing for sports
Samsung calls it “Auto Motion Plus”; LG calls it “TruMotion.” Turn it OFF for hockey — otherwise players look weird.
Common Smart TV IPTV Problems
App won’t install / not in app store
Older TVs (pre-2019) may not have Smart IPTV. Options: sideload via USB (more advanced), buy a Fire TV Stick 4K Max ($70), or upgrade the TV.
Playlist doesn’t load after uploading on siptv.eu
Restart the TV app fully. If still not loading, restart the entire TV (unplug for 30 seconds). Then reload the app.
4K content buffers on 2019 TV
Older Tizen and webOS processors struggle with some 4K streams. Try HD instead. Or add a Fire TV Stick 4K Max for offloading the decoding.
Screen goes black during playback
HDMI-CEC conflict. Turn off “Anynet+” (Samsung) or “Simplink” (LG) in TV settings.
EPG blank on Smart IPTV
EPG URL needs to be added on siptv.eu, not in the TV app. Log into siptv.eu, go to your device page, add EPG URL provided by your IPTV service.
Smart TV vs External Device — Which Is Better?
| Consideration | Smart TV Native | Fire TV / Android Box |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free (already have TV) | $60-$300 |
| Simplicity | One remote, one system | Extra device and remote |
| App options | Limited to what TV supports | Wide range of apps |
| Speed / smoothness | Depends on TV’s processor | Usually faster |
| Longevity | Ties to TV lifespan | Upgrade device only |
My recommendation: If your TV is 2020 or newer with decent processor (Samsung QLED, LG OLED, Sony Bravia), Smart IPTV on the TV is fine. If your TV is older or budget model, spend $70 on a Fire TV Stick 4K Max — the smoother experience is worth it.
Smart TV Setup FAQ
My Samsung TV is 2018. Can I still install Smart IPTV?
Possibly. Check Tizen version in TV settings. If it’s 4.0+, likely yes. If it’s older, no — grab a Fire TV Stick.
Does IPTV drain my TV’s memory?
IPTV apps use minimal storage (10-30 MB). No performance impact.
Can I use my Smart TV for IPTV and Netflix at the same time?
Yes. IPTV apps run alongside Netflix and other apps. Switch between them via home button.
Can I install IPTV on a hotel Smart TV?
Usually no — hotel TVs are locked down. Bring a Fire TV Stick if you want IPTV while traveling.
What if my TV is broken or missing the app store?
Buy a Fire TV Stick 4K Max ($70). It bypasses whatever the TV OS is doing wrong.
